The East Ramapo School Nurses serve the students in our district in a variety of ways.  The school nurses complete all mandated health screening such as height, weight, vision, hearing and scoliosis.  They review health records regarding immunizations, arrange for school physicians to examine students for mandated physicals, and assist the students in the certification process for sports participation.  Each day they assess the student's needs for first aid and general wellness.  The school nurses participate in student education by providing information on bulletin boards as well as informative programs to the students.  Some examples of these include health, nutrition, asthma prevention, hand washing and weight control through exercise.  It is a challenging job and much more than just putting on band aids.

Health Update - Mumps - February 23, 2010

As of today, February 23, 2010 there are no new cases of mumps in our school district. We continue to work with the Rockland County Department of Health in monitoring this situation. Spring Valley High School staff and students providing proof of positive serology for mumps to the school nurse may return to school. All others may return on Friday, February 26, 2010.
