Board of Trustees

East Ramapo is governed by a Board of Education composed of nine trustees elected by the community, each for a term of three years. The Board is responsible for providing and promoting a budget, levying taxes, setting educational policy, and meeting all requirements of state law. Regular meetings are twice each month, usually on the first and third Tuesday, beginning at 7:30 pm.  To contact members of the Board of Education, call 577-6015.

Daniel Schwartz, President of the Board of Education resides in New Hempstead and is serving his first term on the Board, which will expire in 2014.     

Stephen Price, is a resident of Chestnut Ridge serving his seventh term, which expires in 2013.

Yehuda Weissmandl, Vice President,  resides in Spring Valley, and is serving his first term on the Board, which will expire in 2014.Yonah Rothman resides in Wesley Hills, and is serving his first term, which expires in 2015.

Moses Friedman is a Spring Valley resident serving his first term on the Board, which expires in 2013.

Eliyahu Solomon resides in in Spring Valley, and was recently re-elected to a second term on the Board, which will expire in 2015.
Jacob J. Lefkowitz, a resident of Monsey, is serving his first term on the Board, which will expire in 2015.Suzanne Young-Mercer is a Spring Valley resident serving her second term on the Board. Her term will expire in 2013.
Moshe Hopstein resides in Spring Valley is serving his second term as a Board member, which will expire in 2014

Despite the hundreds of hours annually that they spend at regular meetings, study sessions, workshops, public hearings, special school functions, on "homework" and other education-related activities, school board trustees receive no salary or benefits for the extraordinary service that they provide to the entire East Ramapo community.
